Guidelines for Promoting Your Organization

Overview

Military Brats Online would like to assist qualified organizations and individuals in "spreading the word" about worthwhile organizations, issues and causes, especially those that have a direct bearing upon Military Brats.

Military Brats Online is committed to building an interactive, online community of Military Brats, and is ideally suited for organizations to utilize in finding support for various Military Brat related issues and concerns.

Military Brats Online is not a news service. While we do email all our members monthly, and we have an Event Calendar, not all news or press release emails sent to Military Brats Online will be publicized. We have limited staff for doing due diligence and not all news submitted to us is appropriate for our members.

Join Military Brats Online

If you are in the process of setting up an organization, or if you already have a organization, it would be beneficial for a member of your organization, who is a Military Brat, to first join Military Brats Online.

By joining Military Brats Online, you can become a part of our community and gain more personal visibility for your organization or cause.

Once you are a member, you can set up a Group just for your organization or cause, and use the tools available to all members for educating members about your organization or issue using Groups, Blogs and other tools.

Many small organizations are looking to find kindred spirits to volunteer and help, and by making friends within our community, you can find support, ideas, and many Military Brats who are open to what you are doing, once they know more about it.

Do NOT join Military Brats Online if you think it will be a quick recruiting tool for your organization. Making friends and establishing yourself in our community takes time and active participation.

Linking to Military Brats Online

The easiest way to promote your organization and Military Brats Online is for us to exchange website links. While this may not provide the greatest level of promotion for either website, this is a simple, quick way to get things started.

To add your organization's website to the Links Page, please send us a Link Request email. Send us your website's URL so we can visit your website and send us your contact information in case we have a question.

We ask is that your website be Military Brats related, and that you place a link from your website to Military Brats Online to http://www.militarybrats.net.

Banner Advertising

Military Brats Online has a banner ad system which allows organizations to promote themselves. Commercial companies and websites purchase page views, but we can offer qualified organizations FREE banner ads, provided the organization or website meets the following qualifications and is willing to exchange banner ads with Military Brats Online.

Step 1 - Qualification
Organizations requesting free promotion on Military Brats Online must:

Be a non-profit and have 501(c) status (or can show proof that application has been made)
Be a non-commercial website
Offer service or resources of benefit or value to Military Brats
Have a website that the banner ad can be lined to

Ideally, an organization or website will be "established", and will have a track record serving the Military Brats community for at least a year. New organizations or websites may require a waiting period of 6-12 months before initiating an exchange of links or banner ads.

Step 2 - Banner Ad Exchange
Military Brats Online will allow a qualifying organization or website to place a FREE banner ad on Military Brats Online provided:

Organization provides a banner ad space for Military Brats Online on their website
Banner ad space on organization's website is equivalent in square inches to the banner that is placed on Military Brats Online
The banner ad on the organization's website appears on a high traffic website page

Military Brats Online will provide several banner ad sizes so your organization or website can provide a banner ad for Military Brats Online to use. If you do not have access to creative services to create a banner ad, Military Brats Online can create an ad for you at a nominal fee.

Military Brats Online will provide you a professionally design ad based on your website banner ad requirements. This ad will link to the home page of Military Brats Online, which is a public website page.

Military Brats Online recommends that the organization or website create a unique "landing page" so that you can explain to Military Brats and engage their interest right away. This is much more effective than simply linking to your website and forcing the new visitor to find the information or resources which may be interest.

If your website or organization qualifies according to Step 1 and Step 2 or if you have a question, please Contact MBO now. In addition to your contact information (phone and e-mail), be sure to tell us a little about your your organization and website and how it benefits Military Brats. Please include a link to your website and the best time for Military Brats Online to contact you.

Please allow us a few days to review your request and to follow up with you after visiting your website. Military Brats Online reserves the right to accept or reject any applicant.
